Activismo accionarial - Shareholder activism

SETEM es la primera organización en España que trabaja el activismo accionarial. Gracias a accionistas sensibles a su trabajo, han participado en Juntas de Accionistas del BBVA, Santander, Inditex y Adolfo Domínguez. La posibilidad de realizar una intervención delante de los Consejos de Administración de distintas compañías les da la oportunidad de presentar demandas a los que "cortan el bacalao". Sin ir más lejos, gracias a su intervención en la Junta del Santander en el 2008, el Sr. Botín se comprometió a acercarse a las ONG en Brasil y a no financiar una de las presas del controvertido proyecto hidroeléctrico en la Amazonia Brasileira. A lo largo de sus años de experiencia, les ha resultado muy eficaz actuar en calidad y en representación de accionistas, por la importancia que éstos tienen para las empresas, de modo que agradecen que personas accionistas les autoricen para acudir a estas reuniones en su lugar. SETEM is the first organization in Spain to develope shareholder activism. Thanks to shareholders sensitive to their work, they have participated in Shareholders meetings of BBVA, Santander, Inditex and Adolfo Domínguez. Having the possibility to talk before the Board of Directors gives them the chance to express their demands to those "in charge". For example, thanks to their intervention on the Board of Banco Santander in 2008, Mr. Botín decided to approach Brazil's NGOs and not to fund one of the dams of the controversial hydroelectric project in the Brazilian Amazon.
Throughout these years of experience, they have found it very effective to act as or on behalf of shareholders, given the importance they have for business, so they appreciate it if shareholders authorize them to attend these meetings. There are more details about their last interventions here:
